报告题目:Elastic and inelastic diffraction of fast atoms at crystal surfaces

报告摘要:

  Among the various techniques for surface analysis, the diffraction of fast atoms (~keV) at grazing incidence is probably the most surface sensitive. At very grazing angles (~deg.) the atoms do not penetrate and any obstacle such as an ad-atom or steps has a drastic influence.

We will review the different regime which can be defined according the amount of energy associated with the movement directed towards the surface. Below ~10 eV perpendicular energy, most atoms cannot penetrate below the first atomic layer and they are therefore reflected by the surface. However, at this energy even hydrogen atoms have a De Broglie wavelenth shorter than the zero point vibrational amplitude of most surfaces.

This regime can be well described by classical mechanics and can be addressed by atoms or ions. Below one eV perpendicular energy the wavelength now becomes long enough to preserve coherence during the interaction with the surface and diffraction has been clearly observed.

We will discuss the different types of diffraction, what do we learn from the surface, how can we model the results, what is the sensitivity etc.

报告人简介:

Philippe Roncin,博士,法国国家科学院(CNRS)教授,主要从事低能高电荷态、单电荷态离子及原子与表面散射的电荷转移、能量损失,以及表面上快原子衍射实验研究。他早年博士毕业于法国巴黎第十一大学,师从著名Barat-Lichten-Fano electron promotion model提出者之一Michel Barat 教授,曾任美国国家标准技术研究院(NIST)访问学者。先后任法国国家科学院原子分子碰撞研究所(LCAM)副所长、巴黎第十一大学分子科学研究所(ISMO)副所长。曾获法国物理学会AiméCotton奖、法国valorisation 奖和1stclass research director 等荣誉。
  Philippe Roncin教授是离子束物理领域国际著名专家,近二十年共发表高水平学术论文百余篇,累计被引用1878次,H因子23,单篇被引高达111次。其代表性成果包括物理国际顶级期刊Phys.Rev.Lett. 8篇,Phys.Rev.A 5 篇,Phys.Rev.B 5篇,Appl.Phys.Lett.3篇等。他曾26次作为特邀嘉宾参加IISC、ICACS、ECAMP等国际重要学术会议,并做口头报告。
