  应兰州大学土木工程与力学学院西部灾害与环境力学教育部重点实验室张强强副教授邀请,美国加州大学洛杉矶分校(UCLA)Tim Fisher教授和内华达大学雷诺分校(UNR)来我校进行学术交流和专题学术报告。

  Timothy S. Fisher was born in Aurora, IL. He received Ph.D. and B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1998 and 1991, respectively, and joined the Purdue's School of Mechanical Engineering and Birck Nanotechnology Center in 2002. From 2009 to 2011, he served as a Research Scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s newly formed Thermal Sciences and Materials Branch of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate. In 2013 he became the James G. Dwyer Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue. Now, he is working at UCLA as a fulltime professor for Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.

  His research has included efforts in simulation and measurement of nanoscale heat transfer, coupled electro-thermal effects in semiconductor and electron emission devices, nanoscale direct energy conversion, molecular electronics, microfluidic devices, biosensing, hydrogen storage, and related computational methods ranging from atomistic to continuum scales. He has published the results of this work widely in more than 150 archival journal articles, 5 book chapters, and over 200 conference papers. The total google scholar citation is up to 9033 with i10-index of 178.Professor Fisher's work has been recognized with 2012 ASME McDonald Mentoring Award, Fellow of the ASME (2011) and so on. In Fall 2010, he became Chair of the ASME Heat Transfer Division’s K6 Technical Committee on Heat Transfer in Energy Systems.

  报告2: Novel graphene materials used for energy storage

  Dr. Guoping Xiong joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada, ‎Reno in July 2017. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the school of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University-West Lafayette, IN, USA since 2014. During 2014, he worked as a Lead Process Engineer at BlueVine Graphene Industries, Inc. He received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 2013, M.S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 2008, and B.S. degree in Materials Engineering of Molding & Controlling (minor in Computer Science & Technology) from Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan, China in 2005.

  His primary research interests mainly involve design and scalable manufacturing of high-performance, graphene-based energy storage and conversion systems and their related thermal management and transport process, coupled with theoretical and numerical analysis to understand the underlying mechanisms. He has published the results of this work in more than 41 archival articles, 1 book chapters. The total google scholar citation is up to 578 with i10-index of 12.
